Department of Constitutional Law

The Department of Constitutional Law specializes in constitutional law and theory. In addition to doctrinal research in Czech constitutional law, our members conduct research in comparative constitutional law, constitutional theory & jurisprudence, and human rights law.

In terms of teaching, our Department offers compulsory courses in State Theory (Staatslehre), Constitutional Law I, II, and III, and organizes the constitutional component of the Final State Exam. We also provide advanced elective courses in comparative constitutional law, constitutional theory, constitutional history, human rights law, and more, some of which are taught in English.

The Department is also home to the Constitutionalism and Human Rights Centre.

Ph.D. Programme

Our Department offers a competitive Ph.D. program with both full-time and part-time options. Full-time Ph.D. students receive a state-funded monthly scholarship.
